Double Page Spread

This concept is reflected throughout my magazine, as I want to create a strong image that people can look at, and be like, "That is core magazine". As the magazine is less orientated with large standing fonts; I have tried to use strong imagery to convey feelings and emotions. Rather than write them, as seeing things is a much more effective way of picking up signals and moods.
The picture I have taken, is edited in such a way that its kind of black and white, but has a colour overlay that effects the image, as you can pick up on the colours used in the photo shoot, and appreciate them, but still have that melancholy feeling around it that the black and white conveys. I achieved this by making two separate layers, and adding a translucent layer above, that wasn't in black and white.
The colour scheme is simple but doesn't clash with the style of the magazine, nor does it blend in entirely. It offers a nice contrast with the predominately black and white image.
The article is in a way, self written. This means that the person in question, George Pettit wrote the article himself. This gives the reader a sense of connection with the writer, as hes speaking on a much more personal level. This is a positive point as readers are more drawn in to the article. Its written in a very casual manner as well. This can also help the reader to relate to the writer, as the reader doesn't want to be addressed in a way in which they feel spoken down too. The mood the magazine emits is more casual than formal.
